I need this reminder constantly. It's so easy to look forward to the next big thing going on in our lives. But how often do we stop and appreciate the little everyday things?

FEBRUARY FAVORITES

I'm excited to be doing a new {hopefully} monthly posts of some of my favorite things from the month. My favorites will be from all different categories -- home decor, fashion, beauty, fitness, whatever I'm loving that month! Some of these things I currently own and love, and others I've had my eye on but don't own {yet}.

1. This Tomato Cage Plant Stand is a favorite DIY I've been wanting to try! It looks cute + modern, and very easy!
2. This primer is one of my favorite beauty finds of the month! It gives a nice lil shimmer + glow to your face and is reasonably priced. I found it via one of my favorite beauty bloggers, The BeYOUty Bureau.
3. I don't own these mules but I love them! I've been looking for a pair of mules for Spring, and I love the unique color of these ones. They'd be perfect with cropped jeans or a mid-length dress!
4. I recently purchased this diffuser/humidifier and I love it! It has a timer that will automatically shut off which is one of my favorite features. I also like that it's smaller and doesn't look like most diffusers.
5. I'm not a big oil person (as in I have no idea what the benefits are, I just like them for the smell), but this is one of my favorites! It has a nice, clean, lemon-y smell! I drop 4-6 drops in my diffuser.
6. This mug has been one of my favorite Scripted Desire products this month! I gifted a few for Valentine's Day, but I also think they'd be fun for Mother's Day, as a bridal gift, or a "just because" gift for someone.
7. I recently bought these tennis shoes for working out and I'm in love! They are SOOO light and comfortable. Plus they are pretty dang cute and also affordable. Cute + affordable is my favorite combo! My husband and I like to get our tennis shoes from Rack Room because they offer "buy one get one 50% off" on most of their shoes!
8. The Volcano candle is easily one of my favorite scents from Capri Blue. It's a little sweet for some people, but I love it! If you live in Central Texas, you can shop Capri Blue Candles at Brickwood Boutique!
9. My friend Megan at Finespun shared this homemade Apple Cider Vinegar toner with me and I love it! You need: 2 cups of Witch Hazel, 1/4 cup Braggs Apple Cider Vinegar, 10 drops of essential oil (I like lavender), and a clean bottle. Just mix the ingredients in the bottle and you're good to go! It does have a very strong scent, but it's waaaay cheaper than buying a toner from the store, and I feel like it has totally helped my skin!
10. These simple gold hoops are one of my favorite purchases because I wear them all the time! Simple but chic. They also come in silver and rose gold!

Although it's not Spring YET, I can feel it coming! Yesterday, we finally had a break from the rain and got to see the sun! As my husband and I sat outside, the giggles and playful squeals that filled our neighborhood made my heart happy. I love the cheerful moods + happiness that comes with Spring! A good bouquet of bright colorful flowers is SURE to bring even more cheer + happiness. So get outside, feel the warm sunshine on your face, and go buy yourself some flowers!

HOMEMADE MARSHMALLOWS

I posted these marshmallows last year and they were such a hit! It was so fun to see all the different shapes, flavors, and colors people decided to make! Homemade marshmallows are my new favorite winter treat! They are so light and fluffy and taste way better than store bought marshmallows.
Make these marshmallows and pair it with one of my Merry & Bright mugs for a cute gift!

Ingredients:
3 packages unflavored gelatin
1 cup of ice cold water
1.5 cups of sugar
1 cup light corn syrup
1/4 teaspoon salt
3/4 teaspoon peppermint extract (you can use regular vanilla extract if you want)
1/4 cup confectioners' sugar
1/4 cup cornstarch
nonstick spray

Directions:
Place gelatin and 1/2 cup of the water into mixer and set aside. In a saucepan, combine remaining 1/2 cup of water, granulated sugar, corn syrup, and salt. Place over medium-high heat, cover, and cook for about 5 minutes. Uncover and clip a candy thermometer to the side of the pan. Continue cooking until the mixtures reaches 240 degrees F, which will take about 5 minutes (depending on your heat). When you reach 240 degrees, immediately remove from heat. Turn your mixer on low speed and slowly pour the sugar/syrup into the gelatin mixture. Once you've added all the syrup, turn the speed of the mixer up to high. Whip until the mixture becomes very thick, about 15 minutes. In the last minute of mixing, add the peppermint extract (or whatever extract you've chosen).

While the mixture is whipping, prepare a 9x13 pan:
Combine the confectioners' sugar and cornstarch in a small bowl. Spray pan with nonstick cooking spray. Add half of the sugar/cornstarch mixture and move around the pan to coat the bottom and sides of the pan.

Once the mixture is done whipping, pour into the pan. Use a lightly greased spatula to spread the mixture in the pan. Immediately after you spread the mixture, drop a few dots of food coloring all over. Mix the food coloring into the marshmallow mixture using your spatula. Lightly dust the top of the marshmallows with the sugar/cornstarch mixture.

Let the marshmallows sit uncovered for at least 4 hours and up to overnight.
Transfer marshmallows onto a cutting board. Dust a pizza wheel (or knife) with the sugar/cornstarch and cut the marshmallows into squares. You can also use cooking cutters to make various shapes, just make sure you dust the cookie cutters as well. After cutting or shaping marshmallows, dust the sides with the sugar/cornstarch marshmallows. Store marshmallows in an airtight container for up to 3 weeks, but I'm 100% sure they won't last that long!

FREE BUGS + KISSES

I was recently asked to create these candy bags for a customer, and I thought they were such a fun idea! Whether you're looking for a fun treat to give away to Trick-or-Treaters, a cute Halloween party favor, or simple gift for teachers or friends, these bags are great!

These are super easy to assemble! All you need to do is...
- Download the file by clicking HERE or save the photo below
- Save the file to your computer
- Print as many pages as you need from your home computer or take to a local print shop
- Cut the tags (there are four per page)
- Fold each tag in half making a 2x4in rectangle
- Fill treat bags with candy, I added Hershy's kisses (of course), spider rings, and a few extra pieces of candy!
- Staple the tag to the bag and you're done!

BE WHO YOU NEEDED

As I look back on my 24th year of life, I realize that this past year has brought on a lot of changes and unknown. As a result, it's brought on a lot of growth. Growth in responsibilities, confidence, friendships, purpose, and self. Today I turn 25! I don't know what my 25th year will bring and who I will be at this time next year, but I think I want to strive to be this girl. I want to be the girl that little Haley would look up to, admire, need, and appreciate.

The Happy Life

Life is all about your attitude and perspective.
