RANDOM ACT OF KINDNESS

10/09/2018

This weekend, my sister and I were talking about the state of our country. Every day it seems there is another conflict, disaster, political disagreement, etc. I scroll social media and see so much sadness, anger, hate, and cruelty. My sister and I agreed that we need to be reminded that there is still goodness in our world. That's where YOU come in!

For my 26th birthday (woohoo!) I would love for at least 26 people to join me in doing a random act of kindness today! It can be something as small as giving a stranger a compliment. You can pay for someone's coffee. You can pay for someone's dinner. Whatever you want! Just something out of the ordinary that will make someone else smile.

I've made this little card that you can print and pass on if you want. Maybe it will prompt others to keep the kindness going :) Go out and make someone's day!!! xoxo

SWEET SIMPLE THINGS

8/06/2018
I need this reminder constantly. It's so easy to look forward to the next big thing going on in our lives. But how often do we stop and appreciate the little everyday things?
This week I'm going to try extra hard to be in the moment and enjoy the mundane parts of my day. After all, those are the real ones, right? ;)

JULY FAVORITES

8/02/2018
Whew, it's been a minute since I did a Monthly Favorites! Cayden and I have a set spending budget, so I really try not to buy unnecessary things a lot. But when I do buy something I love, I enjoy sharing them! This list is a mix of things I've loved for a while, as well as some newbies I had to share!

1. My sisters, mom, and I purchased these Birkenstocks as a summer shoe. The best way I can describe them is to say that they are Croc material (definitely not the same look) with amazing arch support. I wanted them for the lake and pool as a simple shoe that I could throw on and wash off if they got dirty. Now I wear them around the house and while running errands because they are SOOOOO comfortable! I currently have the white pair, but I've got my eye on the Khaki (olive green) because I love them so much!
2. I first heard of Makeup Revolution from my favorite beauty blogger, The Beyouty Bureau. I was inspired to try new eyeshadow shades and colors, so I decided to give this $7 pallet a try. I have the color "fever" and I'm in love! The shadow lasts all day and it's so fun to experiment with different looks. Plus it's $7, you can't beat that!!
3. These jeans are in the running for my favorite pair of jeans ever. They are so comfortable and fit extremely well. I always struggle to find jeans that fit my waist, butt, and thighs properly, but these are pretty close to perfect. Who knew my body was meant for mom jeans?! ;) By the way, I never buy jeans from American Eagle at full price becasue they will ALWAYS have a sale.
4. I found this tumbler at Walmart a couple months ago, and now it goes with me everywhere! It keeps water cold throughout the day and I love that it has a straw. It's super cheap and you can find it in multiple colors! Just make sure you clean that straw regularly!!!
5. If you follow me on Instagram then you know how much I love making these handmade paper prints. They are definitely my favorite Scripted Desire item at the moment. I love the raw and unique edges and texture of the paper. Plus there are endless possibilites...quotes, verses, lyrics, poems, whatever you want!
6. I have very dry skin, so it's easy for my complexioin to look dull. I started using this Aveeno moisturizer during the winter (when my skin is the driest) and definitely noticed a difference in the brightness of my skin! I love Aveeno products because you can find them at drugstores for a reasonable price, but these seem to work better than other drugstore products.
7. Another month, another favorite earring from my sister, Bear Cameron Design...who is surprised? I love these simple leather earrings. I wear them with so many different outfits because they're so versatile. They are also lightweight which I love!
8. I make something from Skinnytaste probably once a week because I love her healthy and tasty recipes. I've had this cookbook for a while and have loved everything I've tried from it! The entire cookbook is full of crockpot meals or meals that can be made in 30 minutes or less. So perfect if you need healthy and delicious meals, but don't have a ton of time for cooking!

Let me know if you try any of these, or if you have any recommendations for ME! xox

WHAT UNITES US

7/09/2018

I started Scripted Meaningful Mondays because I love words. It was a fun creative way for me to share beautiful, funny, encouraging words in a different way. But as of late, nothing has inspired me. I search for quotes and just feel blah. When I started Scripted Desire, I told myself I wouldn't force anything. If I didn't feel inspired or creative, I didn't want to push it. Because that's when work feels like...work. So, I've remained silent on Monday's. However, last week I came across this quote. As soon as I saw it gave me that feeling I had been missing for so long!
Lately, our country is just making me...sad, for lack of better terms. It feels like every time I get on Facebook there is a new argument stirring around and no one can peacefully agree to disagree. Everyone wants to point their fingers at someone else and push their own thoughts down someone's throat without respecting the opinions of others. I've just found myself feeling heavy with all the issues and hatred. When I saw this quote, it gave me a little glimpse of hope! I truly think America is the best country in the world. I truly think if we try hard enough, every single one of us can find five, heck TEN, things to be thankful for every single day. I truly think if we try hard enough, we can find SOMETHING in common with our most hated enemy. Sometimes kindness isn't easy. Sometimes gratitude isn't easy. Sometimes putting someone else's needs above your own isn't easy. Sometimes being a friend to someone who doesn't deserve it isn't easy. But I'm confident if we all tried a little harder, we could make this world, and our country, a better place. If you've been feeling kinda bummed about the state of our country, I hope this quote encourages you like it did me. Everything is gonna be juuuust fine as long as we work together.
